MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
SUMMARY OF KEY MEMBERSHIP TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
- All membership applications are subject to approval by the Executive and are processed monthly
- All approved members are subject to the Associations Constitution
- All memberships are from 1 July to 30 June annually
- Once approved there are no refund claims for any membership
- No member is permitted to publish any video footage of any animal(s) being shot from the ground or air and any still pictures must demonstrate ethical and humane treatment of animals and correct safe handling of firearms. This condition, albeit recognised as not being one of popularity, is a strict requirement to protect the integrity and discipline of professional industry/occupational operators. (NOTE: There is a conditional exemption for training material which is subject to prior approval of the Association before being used)
GROUND SHOOTER MEMBER SUMMARY ($75):
The Australian Feral Animal Aerial Shooters Association does not just represent the interests of our Aerial Shooters.
All of our aerial shooting members are also professional ground operators in their businesses and the interests of these operations at an industry level is equally important to us.
For the first time across the industry, the Association makes available the opportunity for ground based professional shooters to be part of an Industry Association that provides support to them at an industry level and a commercial certification of their alignment to industry standards.
Being a member supports industry level advocacy and the ability to tackle issues as a representative body for professional operators. It also allows the Association to share information with industry members such as upcoming training opportunities, tenders and other work opportunities, legislative updates that could affect you and more.
To gain affiliated membership with the Association the following criteria must be demonstrated:
Looking to take part in the aerial shooting training program:
Looking for affiliated membership as a ground-based operator, you must provide evidence of:
1 - 6 must be sent to membership@afaasa.org.au when making your membership payment.
All membership applications are reviewed by the executive on a monthly basis and if approved you will be notified and issued a membership certificate.
Memberships are aligned to an ordinary financial year, e.g. start of July to end of June.
Any membership application that is not accepted will be issued a refund less the value of any Paypal fees.

- If you are looking to complete aerial shooting training with us, you must first hold this membership
Looking for affiliated membership as a ground-based operator, you must provide evidence of:
- A current firearms license with the genuine reason of contract/occupational shooting or equivalent,
- Current public liability insurance to $20m,
- Current training in the humane destruction of animals (e.g. AHCPMG304)
- A Work Health and Safety Management system,
- An example of a workplace risk assessment, and
- Preferably be authorised to own and use a firearm suppressor for safety reasons.

AERIAL SHOOTER MEMBER SUMMARY ($200):
The Australian Feral Animal Aerial Shooters Association is the peak industry representative for private sector aerial shooting operators.
Being a member supports industry level advocacy and the ability to tackle issues as a representative body for professional operators. It also allows the Association to share information with industry members such as upcoming training opportunities, tenders and other work opportunities, legislative updates that could affect you and more.
Membership as an aerial shooter is not easily achieved and is reserved for those who meet strict industry standards and can demonstrate the following to be consider eligible for membership:
- Maintain a current ground-based operator membership with the Association
- Maintain a current firearms license with the genuine reason of contract/occupational shooter
- Maintain a Category D firearms license/authority
- Have completed AHCPMG304 (use firearms to humanely destroy animals)
- Have completed AHCPMG311 (use firearms for pest control activities from an aircraft) or equivalent as authorised by CASA
- Have completed PUAFIR017 (Work Safe around aircraft) or equivalent
- Have completed industry training covering crew resource management and flying in a wire environment (low level)
- Maintain current public liability insurance to $20m
- Have a demonstrated Work, Health and Safety management system
- Provide an example of a workplace risk assessment
In addition to the above pre-requisites, applicants must also have the following equipment:
- 2x Semi-Automatic 308 centrefire rifles (side eject or with brass deflectors fitted)
- 20x 20 round magazines
- 1x semi-automatic or pump action shotgun with a minimum 7 shot tube
- A current in-service aviation harness
- A current in-service aviation helmet
- An aviation flight suit and gloves
- A first aid and emergency kit
- An emergency/personal location beacon
- Essential maintenance equipment for firearms
- Essential transport and safekeeping arrangements for firearms
- UHF, VHF and other communication equipment essential for the communication between ground and air
- A GPS mapping system and software to plot location, authorised shooting locations, record engaged targets, identify hazards and capture other real time data as is required for a safe and accountable aerial shooting operation

For Members about to complete the aerial shooting accreditation course with us the first 12 months membership as an aerial shooter is included (subject to meeting the strict training/accreditation and equipment requirements)
